The Plain Tiger is a "milkweed butterfly" also known as the African Monarch or
Golden Wanderer. This butterfly may be seen flying into rural or suburban
gardens to feed on flower nectar while its caterpillars may be found feeding on
the leaves of the Crown Flower.
