Found in the Philippines and Indonesia, the sexes of this species are very
different. The male is mostly very dark with pale blue dusting on its hind
wings. The female has red on the base of its forewings which is continuous
with pale red which runs around the hind wings. The Scarlet Mormon has a
wingspan of some 140mm.
