Family Friendly Cafe and Playgrounds
You will work up a hunger after enjoying the attractions at Butterfly Creek and we have a delicious selection of homemade food. Our café is a great place to meet friends and family or for a business meeting. Enjoy the sunny inside deck, or our covered outside courtyard next to our children’s playground. We have a range of cabinet food and a delicious a-la-carte menu freshly made on-site by our talented chefs.
You can order yummy hot chips, burgers and a selection of other hot food, freshly prepared by our kitchen (note Kitchen close times below). Cold drinks, ice-creams and cabinet food are available until the end of the day, so you can pick up a tasty treat after exploring the park. Cabinet food may vary and is subject to availability.
Our coffee machine closes one hour before closing time, however you can still order hot chocolate, tea and cold drinks until the end of the day (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic are available).
You are welcome to visit the cafe without an entry ticket, however you will need to purchase a ticket if you want to explore any other parts of the park.

Please note that only food & drinks purchased from the Butterfly Creek cafe may be consumed within premises.
If you bring your own food, there are some picnic tables just outside our main entrance that you are welcome to use.
Children’s Playgrounds
Butterfly Creek has two of the best family friendly playgrounds in Auckland that we know your kids will love!
Our Kids Playground it located right next to the courtyard so you can relax with some food and a cup of coffee while the kids run around and burn off some energy.
Be sure to check out ‘Fred and Jo’s Adventure Playground’ as well – one of our newest additions to the park. Located between Buttermilk Farm, and our fantastic Lace Monitor exhibit, this adventure playground will have the kids climbing, jumping and balancing their way through the obstacles!
Minimising Waste and Prioritising Recycling
Sustainability is a key driver for the Butterfly Creek café. We take pride in our efforts to minimise waste and utilise recyclable packaging for all our food and beverage offerings.
We have a comprehensive waste management system throughout the cafe, ensuring that recyclable waste can be disposed of separately, with some food waste going to the farm animals – reducing the amount of rubbish destined for landfills.
