Butterfly Creek is part of the National Captive Breeding Programme for brown kiwi. Our state-of-the-art kiwi house has been home to seven kiwi over the past 5 years.
Young kiwi spend 2-3 years with us until they are big enough to be released into the wild or join the national breeding programme as adults. Our kiwi provide visitors with an amazing opportunity to see them and learn about their special features and conservation.

These Curious Kiwi resources have been designed with primary aged children in mind but many of the activities are suitable for all ages. Our interactive choice boards support curriculum planning by providing activity ideas for several learning areas whilst promoting key competencies. They could also be used by tamariki in an online classroom environment to assist with independent learning.

We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to share examples of how useful these resources have been.

Please feel free to email us at [email protected] with any feedback, suggestions, or photos of your children’s work.
