Butterfly Creek started the wētāpunga breeding programme with the Department of Conservation in 2008. Since then, we’ve released large numbers of wētāpunga into offshore island sanctuaries helping to protect these national taonga.

These Wonderful Wētāpunga resources have been designed with primary aged children in mind but many of the activities are suitable for all ages.

Our interactive choice boards support curriculum planning by providing activity ideas for several learning areas whilst promoting key competencies. They could also be used by tamariki in an online classroom environment to assist with independent learning.
